Statement

London-based Japanese artist, Hiroki Ishikawa (b1987), his artworks consistently explore the relationship between individual and society in the contemporary condition; by the idea of sculptural deconstruction and reconstruction using various media such as sculpture, video, photograph and performance. Recently, looking at the issues around the social acceleration and the uncontrollable conditions, both micro and macro, he is interested in juxtaposing anthropological and biological aspects as well as his humorous and imaginative sensibilities. His artworks have been exhibited in the group exhibitions and residency programmes, ‘Nakanojo Biennale 2019 (Japan)', ‘Deptford X’ (London) ‘All Places Shall be Hell that is not Heaven’ Bilt Mansion (London), ‘Surge’ East wing of Somerset House/ the Courtauld Institute of Art (London), ‘Artist in Residency programme’ Riverpal Gokase (Miyazaki), He graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts and currently studying at MFA programme Goldsmiths University of London / supported by POLA ART FOUNDATION.
