Byron Kalomamas was born in Athens, Greece. His recent works have been guided by a continuously developing methodology based on a mechanistic scheme where machine-like contraptions function to perform their assigned meaning. His interest in various forms of interaction has led him to a holistic approach, which encompasses both the appropriation of pre-existing strategies (such as those of advertisement and technocapitalist reproduction) and the development of new visual vocabularies. Visitors are invited to become active participants in them; meaning and representation are to be continuously considered in conjunction with physical interaction and enactment. These works touch upon subjects such as the formation of national identities, and the symbols and mechanisms through which they are reproduced and maintained.
